Poland loved the Nazis and wanted them to lead them. Most slavs did actually, slavs supported Hitler even more then the french did.

Hitler said that Poles are the finest cannon fodder any superpower could ever ask for. I'm pretty sure Gustavus Adolphus said something similar as well.
