I was in grade 5. They held assembly and we all watched the news and the teachers tried to explain what was going on.
I personally didn't get what the big deal was because all I knew about America was from action movies, I thought it was just another day over there.

I was in “life skills” class which was an etiquette course disguised as a financial literacy course. The teacher just turned on the tv and there it was. The girl I sat next to, who I was sleeping with at the time, got all upset and had to be excused for the day.

Whatever was on TV went into breaking news. I watched as the 2nd tower was hit. I ran downstairs and told my grandma to make me an omelette. Grandma made the best omelettes, rip grandma. :(

I was a freshman and In my dorm room at KU, when our neighbors busted and said that someone bombed the Pentagon. Then the first tower was hit. Then the second hit and I didn’t know what to do, there were girls in our dorm who’s parents worked in the trade centers and were screaming and crying with a horror I’ve never heard again. Shocked, worried and unable to reach their loved ones. I went to my Greek and Roman myth class which was in the biggest lecture hall on campus. I watched the first tower come down with like 20 other kids that were there and our professor turned off the three GIANT screens and said she was going home. Went back to the dorm, watched the second come down, and started drinking.

Also the very first reports were that a middle had hit the pentagon. They showed a quick on the scene love shot, then never saw it again. It was ABSOLUTELY clear that an airplane had not hit it. Shock and confusion when they said it was a plane.

I was 19. Driving to community college, listening to Q 104.3's Two for Tuesday block. In-between Zeppelin songs the jockey came on and said some "joker" flew a plane into the side of one of the towers, then put on the next Zep. song. I got on-campus and ran into some friends and repeated the news. We shrugged it off then got to our classes. Then I noticed everyone in class were quietly talking about what was happening. The professor got into the class and said there was a terrorist attack underway and the college was closing for students' safety. We were only an hour and a half away from NYC and a lot of us had family working there. I went into the student center and a large group of students were watching the news and that's when I first saw both towers on fire and the replay of the second plane crashing into the tower. I got to my car and drove home listening to the radio when I heard it announced the first tower collapsed. I exclaimed "HOLY SHIT!" I looked around and saw the other people in their cars around me and everyone was stone-faced in shock. Got home just to see the second tower fall on TV. Holy shit I still can't believe it happened. The following weeks were an awful nightmare (remember, initial estimates were 10-20,000 dead), with the news on 24/7 and footage of people crying and holding pictures begging the camera to contact them if they saw their father or husband. Jesus, what a fucking crazy thing to happen. Of course we all knew the bright beautiful future we were told we were headed towards was dead that day. And it was.
