This is explicitly against the International Postal Union's treaty and doubly so as these nations were obviously all operating as a cartel as they all announced it together and jointly, to defy Trump.

It's going to end up with them having to jump through even bigger hurdles in the near future, due to remedies provided for in the various IPU rules, you'll read about this soon. There will be screeching, maybe even calls for a NEW International Postal Union.

And they're throwing a tantrum but they're going about it the wrong way - other members of the IPU, which includes almost every nation, will see the behavior of these 17 nations who have joined into a cartel and become more wary of them too.

To be honest, the international postal system concept which the Romans had and which managed to survive in the Catholic Church, and which was revived in government by the Germans in the 1600s, has broken down more in the last 15 years than in the last 400. There is the old standard of the International Reply Coupon which is a sort of ticket you used to be able to get until midway through Obama's regime, it cost like $18 but it would get your mail to anywhere on earth in any nation. And even nations at war with each other have kept up their postal systems in order to facilitate eventual diplomacy.

When the International Reply Coupon went away I knew we were in trouble, globally.

Not our problem really. Plenty of countries hit by the De Minimis rule being dropped are managing just fine. It's just these 17 who formed a cartel, who are going to get royally fucked.

One thing Trump can do is cancel the honoring of foreign post, we have engaged in a system whereby some nation can send the US mail with THEIR stamps and we will deliver it as long as they deliver mail with OUR stamps on it. The alternative, which some few countries we mail with insist on, is that each letter has to be stamped with enough stamps to cover postage in BOTH nations. Stamps in the domestic postage to cover delivery to or from the originating nation to the destination nation, and then foreign stamps to pay for delivery the rest of the way to the destination. He can't do this without cause but now he has it.

Anyhooo I thought you anons should know, if you need any garbage from China or wherever, better get it now because whatever's in the pipe stateside is all there will be from drop shippers for quite some time. At least from the affected nations.
