I’ll be honest. I was never asked, and i never thought about it because i was naive and didn’t know any better. I got married when i was 21. I just wanted a husband and to be loved and to have a baby. I figured the rest would fall into place. He was in law school though, so i assumed we’d have money eventually. I was 19 when we met. He was 22 and we got married 3 years later. I honestly never thought about money. He made 24,000 as a clerk for a judge - the first job he had - and that was back in 2003. I have less than 10 years of overall experience in engineering and I make 156k PLN without benefits, bonuses and overtime.

I’m not mad at all. Some women want to be stay at home moms and have a good life and they want a man who gives that to them. If they’re willing to bust ass at home that’s a good deal.
But if you want somebody who is literally top 0.5% of wealth in the world I gotta wonder if you’ve actually considered what kind of life that will equate to. Your finances will be highly volatile if your husband isn’t incredibly prudent, you’ll literally have a problem finding things to spend money on, you’ll have to start obsessing over social standards of the uber rich and basically be forced to live a certain way until he retires (never). And I hate to say it but the spectrum for problem kids is a financial horseshoe.
My gf grew up in one of the richest area codes of the Midwest and her hs yearbook reads like a bad country song: alcoholic, druggie, died in car crash, suicide, prison for tax evasion, never went to prison but should have fifty times, suicide, actual serial killer, alcohol, abuse victim, abuser, divorce, divorce, divorce, they’re so nice, divorce and suicide then alcoholism, etc.

I'm 39, married with two children, I work for a fin-tech company, I live in the east Bay Area. Basically my father's bio from the same time in 1998. I'm not saying I'm barely scraping by, just that my neighborhood, size of my house, age and number of vehicles, ability to take the same kinds of vacations, send my kids to private schools, is all much reduced from what my father was able to provide with less than a quarter of the income.
