I also have a strange feeling that the Nazis and the Japanese may have been fighting interdimensionally to change the outcome of World War II. Is The Man in the High Castle a textbook? You know, I dreamt of a world where the axis had won. Believe or not, things where not too different at this age in day to day living, other than the space elevator in Africa. It was built there in a joint effort between the Italians, Germans, and Americans. There were space colonies similar to O'Neil cylinders, and a multi global outpost on the moon used for research. i don't know if it counts as a mandala effect or just language being reigned in to avoid conclusions the language modifiers don't want people to make, but I distinctly remember the FBI was spoken of as a continuation of the Pinkerton agency, a lot of their standard operating procedures and trade craft, how they operate by building networks of informants, leverage, entrapment, etc -- all comes from the Pinkerton playbook, and I remember the US Secret Service being stood up around the same time with the Department of the Treasury, the enforcement/investigative office meant to prosecute counterfeiting.
Now both are post-civil war, and vaguely overlapping (but not related) to the pinkerton agency, or at least the language now is far less certain of their connection.
