You must understand that this symbolic presence of US troops is not really done for military reasons. These 10k GI Joes dont have any practical military meaning, especially considering fact that they operate here on rotational basis, and are located mostly in Western part of Poland. If they were stationed in permanent bases near borders with Belarus and Kalinigrad, then we could say that their presence has practical meaning. These troops are a backbone of the regime. They are justification of political power of Polish governments because average voters believe that US presence in any form is a sine qua non condition of countrys security. It is a faith, it is not really rational. Thats what average people here believe in. They were programmed this way through decades, since 1989. If these troops pulled out, it would be a death-blow to any government in Bolanda
