Anti digital ID petition
So, apparently, the Labour government is mulling with the idea of rolling out digital ID's for its citizens. Wanted to share the petition to prevent this action.

What exactly is a digital ID?
Is it just ID that's been digitized? If so I think that's pretty much universal already.

EU is getting it as well as their own Online Safety Act at Summer 2026 latest.
For fuck's sake, internet. Stop making this only about the UK just because they're the ones doing it first.

It's for internet stuff basically, so that if you want to use the internet in britastan you have to tie every single packet you send to your digital ID or no connection for you.

Age verifications are the camel's head in the tent of a full digital id.

i'm sure that'll go just as well as all the other petitions against governmental fuckery did.
>The government has determined that digital id is a necessary tool in the fight against right wing extremism and illegal migration, now hand over your fingerprints and retina scans you stupid fucking goyim

I think the UK needs digital IDs to keep online hate speech and harassment down. Brits would think twice before posting something harmful online with their own face attached to it.

Hate speech, which should still fall under free speech excluding threats to person/property, or speech that the government in the UK consider hateful speech? Like a gentleman who was arrested in the UK for saying that he liked bacon...

You are probably right, however, if a petition gets 100,000 signatures by law they're required to debate it in parliament. It's fun to watch politicians squirm a little.

The more they ignore these petitions I feel the more people realize that the government are not playing ball.

My prediction is they will probably only allow "Government sanctioned petitions" soon...

You already have a digital ID. Your details are already logged with the Government. You're also a very naive person if you think these petitions mean anything. They were a daft gimmick brought in by David Cameron.

Digital IDs are coming soon everywhere. It pisses me off. But on the other hand I realized I dont really care anymore.
We already live in a surveillance society. Can't go anywhere without a camera recording your movements, without every transaction being logged.
As for the internet, its just become another set of TV channels. Its useful for DIY videos and that's about it. Otherwise its full of disinformation, retards, dumb bitches, shills, AI bots, and flooded with 3rd world ESLs. Most of the intelligent and interesting people who once used it left long ago.
