Everything makes sense if you consider that Trump is a 90’s liberal. America in the 90’s was probably the strongest any power has ever been, total global hegemony. So in his eyes that’s what America is, most likely as a non-politician this also led him to believe that America actually IS a force for good in the world, so he effectively is someone who drinks the koolaid rather than a propagandist
