Russia had a breakthrough. Ukraine reacted quickly and redeployed a lot of squads there. They contained the breakthrough, but those squads are now missing from other places.

Overall status is that Ukraine is stretched too thin because of their Kursk blunder, which allows Russia to advance on multiple fronts. Ukraine is slowly retreating and giving up land, because that's really the only thing they can do at this point. The illusion of taking back Crimea is completely gone. Stopping the Russians is also off the table. The only thing they have left is slowing the Russian advance.
