China's Drone Tanks
Considering that drone strikes are now making traditional tanks almost unusable, drone tanks are indeed a new direction for future warfare.
After all, machines are much cheaper than people, they can be repaired when they break down, and if they can't be repaired, they can be taken and sold for scrap metal.

optical cables can be dozens of kilometres long and unjamable.

>EZ to defeat
The issue in focus is not the combat effectiveness of drones, but the speed and price at which they can be produced.
A drone tank could be as little as a few tens of thousands of dollars, considering how fast Chinese factories are producing electric cars.
With the factories running at full speed, tens of thousands of drone tanks could be produced in a month.
Millions a year is not impossible.
If you use young people as firewood like Ukraine, you could be consuming millions of people against drones.
The other side, however, has almost no human soldiers on the battlefield.

Don't think it's that practical to drag an fo cable on the ground.

That's literally how Ukraine and Russia are doing drone warfare right now.

To prevent loss of control of the drone due to loss of signal issues.

Signal jamming can be disrupted itself by signal overmatch. The US military has prepared itself four signal overlap and signal over match. Go look at the diagrams.

>Signal jamming
Here's where traditional bombing comes in. Fiber optic missiles and bombers were prepared to solve the jamming problem.
Just blow up the jammers with the missiles and the drones are ready to go to war.

The fiber optic wire falls from the drone to the ground. They can't cross significant water distance because the wire weight will sink and snap it. If the drone is out too long someone will eventually run over the wire. It's good enough for a cheap drone.
