This situation ended with the US and EU bombing Serbia basically to the stone age, with the express and clear intent of crippling it economically, targeting factories, hospitals, etc. What topped it all off was the fact that at the war's conclusion, the same people decried "ethnic cleansing" then ethnically cleansed Christian Serbs from the Republika Srpska. The world was lied to and told Bosnia is some homogeneous people. It's a poorly drawn up border of a polity.

It's where the term "balkanization" comes from too. Yugoslavia was a strong independent state and regional power. It had it's own weapons and aviation industry, etc. They broke it up to make way for EU hegemony in the region. Then they claim everyone else is an imperialist or something.
