Does anyone else notice that many drivers will (I assume purposefully) creep towards your side of the lane as you pass them on the highway? Either it's happening more than ever, or I'm fucking nuts and it's an illusion.
I consider myself both a safe and charitable driver. No bumper stickers, and I drive a damn minivan.

Im not fucking delusional though. Next time you're on the highway, watch a wheel on the car your passing in relation to the line as you approach. Doesn't happen with everyone, but a lot. I never noticed this until I randomly decided to focus on it one day. I assume it's just some bullshit lesson teaching people do because they don't like getting passed.

I've done it purposefully to get the DUMBFUCK who is pacing another asshole in the other lane to slow down..... so I can pass both of the fucktards. It works usually.

Watch the wheels and the line as you pass. Your minds are gonna be fucking blown. It's some fucking universal thing and I don't even think people know they do it.

I assume and observe that it seems to be coordination issues- as you pass and become visible in their peripheral, they move their head to the left, accidentally moving their hands that way as well. Many people struggle to maintain conversation on a bicycle when riding side by side as a result. Or move their whole body as they manipulate a video game controller.

This makes sense... but I thought it usually happens in reverse. Like if you're driving in the right lane and start looking out the right window, you'll start drifting to the left.

Also, I’ll mention that having only driven one vehicle with lane-keeping assist(wife’s ‘17 Corolla), I’ve noticed it has a tendency to want to keep the car aligned to the left of the lane, rather than centered. I’ve heard similar complaints when I bring it up to coworkers with newer cars.

No, but 20% of the time they start driving faster so I can't overtake. And 95% of the time it's a nigger.

Idk, my dad was always swerving into whoever he was turning to talk to when bicycling, and it’s something I’ve anecdotally heard about. See my answer about lane assist. I have strongly observed the phenomenon you’ve described though.

unconscious rage/anger that people have cause them to slow down in front of you then speed up when you try to pass, don't want to let change lanes, tailgate, and cut in front of you. That is why everyone needs to be armed while driving.

I notice when walking close to the path down the main raid cars will move to avoid me, almost driving in the middle of the road if there aren't cars coming the other way. It's like they think it's final destination or some shit and they think I'll trip over a rock and my head land directly under their wheel.

After having witnessed many a person stumble on a rock, catch the tip of their shoe in a small hole, or just dump spaghetti everywhere as a result of nervous over-thinking as a car approached, I’ve learned to give a wide berth when possible for those walking roadside, especially dumbass kids(or nowadays, people in general) on bikes, who have a strong tendency of mindlessly cutting into the lane, accidentally crashing as a result of stupidity(wheelies etc), or crashing after getting their shoe laces caught up in the pedals. People with dogs, even on the sidewalk, also have earned a wide berth from me, due to their owners failing to adequately shorten the leash.

Have you heard of target fixation? Most drivers are absolute dogshit and can't into lane keeping when their attention drifts. Which is often now their financed plastic chinkbox inevitably has a 24 inch iPad mounted on the dash. I see cunts routinely just watching YouTube or TV while driving around now.

Some people do it in exit zones as a blocking maneuver where people flying up the left lanes and diving tiny gaps and cutting people the fuck off instead of being in the correct marked lane when you're supposed to be in it is the norm. But if you're talking about out in open interstate away from exits I don't know.

The self driving shit in my car does this. When I pass anybody it hugs their side of the lane. It makes me super uneasy too.
