The issue is very straightforward.
That list of qualifications for reading doesn't include forum browsing, shitposting, doomscrolling or reading text in video games.
More people read than ever before, but what they're reading is not mainstream media, literature or an audiobook.
They read memes, shitposts, historical documentation / infographs and podcasts.
None of those things are being checked by the dumb retarded ignorant subhuman niggershit researchers who get paid a fortune for wasting their time.

Reading requires setting time aside and immersing yourself one thing for a long time, even if momentarily you find it boring. People now are trained to find this unbearable compared to the colourful social media kaleidoscope.
Most people can't even watch a movie without checking their phone constantly.
It doesn't help that modern lit is slop and zoomers are trained to regard most great old authors as problematic in one way or another (pale stale male).

I am glad. I am hoping reading falls out of favor as some sort of virtue signaling behavior.
