This asshole impresses me with the sheer level of his grift. Somehow he has convinced a lot of idiots, many of them rich, that he knows what he is talking about.
I remember when the Ukraine war broke out he was babbling away about "Russia's existential crisis", explaining how taking Ukraine would close off one invasion route into Russia, mentioning Trans-Siberia as another invasion route.
I was like "Nigga, what, are you fucking serious?" I half expected him to say something about the potential threat of someone invading Russia through the North Pole after that. Jesus Christ.
It took one, just one, simple search to learn that Ukraine sits on top of the only major natural gas reserves in Europe after Russia. Along with a shit ton of rare earths. It was then I knew that was what the war was really all about. Me, a fucking nobody. Just one simple search and yet this fucking idiot is talking about invasion routes into Russia and how Russia has to block them. He didn't mention Ukraine's natural resources at all.
And he describes himself as a "geopolitical analyst"
And this guy is popular and has a huge following! He makes money going to conferences and giving talks repeating the same shit over and again. He sells books! Whatever little faith I had left in Humanity died.
Note: I wasn't the only one to figure out the real reason for the war, of course. People with far better education, far better access to far better data reached the same conclusion as me long before I even thought of it. But these people remain unheard of and their conclusions largely unknown.
