First of all its called drill and ceremony, or D&C for short. Second, nobody is in charge of them because nobody gives a fuck about D&C after you graduate basic training.

Everybody goes to their unit and trains to operate or fix whatever piece of equipment they were assigned. Its basically a job operating heavy equipment. If you were dumb enough to sign up for a combat arms job, you will spend half your time in the field freezing or sweating yourself stupid. There is literally nobody in the US military that just marches around all day like this. They are too busy honing actual skills that are actually useful for killing people.

Foreign armies though? Different story. They don't have equipment to operate. They don't have any tactics to learn. They are just a bunch of guys with nothing to do. So what do they do all day? This type of shit. March in formation. Spit shine their uniform 10 times a day. I even saw them chipping ice by hand off a 10 mile road at 4am in the middle of winter because a general MIGHT be coming through to inspect the base.

No US soldier has time or patience for that type of shit. Do these parades look bad as a result? Yes. Thats why we don't do them. Trump would know that if he bothered to ask someone. But he didnt because hes a fucking retard. Either that or he wanted to embarrass and fire an upity DEI general.

Drill and ceremony is mandatory in basic. If there are 3 or more soldiers walking together outside they are technically required to be in a marching formation.

The Chinese unit is a dedicated drill and ceremony unit. The U.S. had a dedicated marching band unit in it's parade. None of them go to the field or deploy they sit on a base all day marching or playing instruments. They travel for funerals or parades.

As an aesthetic, that would match American ideals.
Marching in formation shows synchronisation and teamwork, that the unit can pull together and act as one mind in battle. But it also makes them look like mindless drones only serving for the sake of serving.
A slightly more ramshackle but still professional and competent US army has a more citizen's militia look to it. Each state sends volunteer soldiers, and the complete army is a collection of militias and mercenary companies.

In terms of style, it's fitting.
All the screaming in bootcamp and the philosophy of mentally breaking men to "rebuild them" doesn't line up with that, though.

China makes these people practice for this march as their full time job for 6+ months instead of doing actual military training or doing whatever their normal military duties are which gives you a good parade but also gives you a military that is unprepared to actually do anything other than participate in a parade. The Americans were just random units basically given short notice and no prep because they have real jobs that they normally do instead of full time parade prep. The only full time troops we have are honor guard that do small events and military funerals and these are a much smaller proportion of our military allocated to this compared to countries like China that care more about the appearance of an effective military than actually training their people.

Marching is pointless. For a long period of time moving in formation as a block of men was how you won fights. After the advent of rapid fire rifles it was a death sentence. After the development of machineguns a way to inflect demographic destruction on your nation.

The real problem isn't the lack of marching but letting the Democrats take power once a decade to fuck the whole military up with DEI nonsense.
