Even if the tariff was 100% that's still magnitudes less than you can get it made in the US.
The issue isn't godmode chinks or lazy Americans or whatever else people are saying. Its our monetary policy. America is set up to have a strong currency, which allows us to buy things cheaper from countries with weak currency. China purposefully devalues their currency. This makes importing anything very expensive but exporting goods very easy. Their citizens can must buy locally made goods but have no issues finding work manufacturing things.
The example of this is cell phones. A china phone is cheap there while an iPhone is insanely expensive, even though zero Americans actually work on an assembly line building them.
TLDR our economic policy prevents US manufacturing from ever being competitive. Nobody wants to change it just to give a bunch of chuds jobs screwing bullshit together.
