EU - Mercosur & EU - Mexico trade deals
While the US is bickering, the EU is taking over US soft power through the EU-Mercosur Partnership Agreement (EMPA) and the EU-Mexico Modernised Global Agreement (MGA).
>elimination of tarrifs on 90+% imports and exports on all sides
>recognition of EU GIs, the largest GI annex in history
>all goods must meet EU standards
>EU firms ability to bid for mercosur and mexican public contracts on equal terms
>requires mercosur and mexico to implement the paris climate agreement, to halt deforestation and protect biodiversity, and against overfishing
>EU-style ICS replacing NAFTA arbitration
>requires mercosur and mexico to introduce new anti corruption legislation
>EU annual export could rise by 40%, supporting ~440k EU jobs
>EU GDP to rise by 77.6b

manufacturing will definitely benefit because they are eliminating tariffs on european manufactured goods, as well as we are eliminating tariffs on raw materials
for agriculture: while there will be more competition for beef and poultry, the EU can set quotas and there is a 6.3b farmer support fund specifically for this. besides, welcome to capitalism baby. they will be required to follow the same EU standards as here so if you cant compete its your own damn fault
more importantly, our GIs will be protected over there

The overall view here is that this bad for our industry and will condem us to the role of comody exportes while offering a life-line to european industry. The same old colony role of exporting cheap goods and importing industrial goods. The thing is are european industry still THAT competitive that we need to protect ourselves from? We have cheaper energy and labor so most european companies would rather invest in factories here no? The chinese are also building car factories. I don't know which industrial sector would lose so bad. Medicine?

What if it is about products that only exist in their respective climate, for example europe gives wine and south america coffe and both infastructures remain intact? Or at least if all is the same then not to the point where it completely erases the infastructure in one side or the other?
Anonymous (ID: 9xuR5yKV) Netherlands No.514787481 >>514787662

Yep that is the way that both countries would benefit, and more generally it's not a problem for a country to specialize in a specific industry as long as it does not give up other essential ones, which in a high-tech society is quite a lot. The globohomo position is that consumers have to be protected first and foremost, but the problem with all this is that this A) does not benefit the people of any particular country and B) we don't have capitalism we have completely jewed retarded financial voodoo capitalism, so "prices" are fucked to hell and back. The infrastructure that are good for the health of a company and possible to work with are what should be maintained. Unfortunately this sometimes would have the result that a government has to do some really extreme protectionism and subsidy of national industry, contrary to "free market" principles which we decided were holy in the 20th century. Yeah free market is great when you are the one exporting. And then we got the leftist niggers in charge and our societies went to fucking shit.

yeah that's why I thought too. This deal makes no sense for the brazilian industry (that 50 years ago was located here). My reasoning is that european industralized goods will still fail to be competitive to China, so it is probably that we Mercobros can export commodities to EU and cuck them out of buying their stuff because we'll still import tech from China.

Right now our government wants to have a "bonafide buyer" for Vaca Muerta so the deal probably got accelerated from that point.

This deal was pushed hard for by Germany, especially automotive sector, as their export to US got fucked with tariffs and chinks are taking over with EVs, while south american countries are still loving le germans cars and have basically zero emission regulations on engines. Also, EU basically wants to get rid off agriculture in EU with all the chimping out farmers and toxic chemicals used in it and in exchange just import raw food from south america, especially Brazil and Argentina. Our farmers in Poland are already chimping out because Argentinian beef is like 3x times cheaper.

What's strange about this deal is that in it's face it looks bad like "oh no european industry will kill ours" but everytime people say the biggest winners are german automakers and I'm like... really? That's it? VW already has factories in Brazil and they rather invest here than in german factories due to energy costs. Let's say that with thw tarifs down there will be a bigger demand that the local production won't match and we will bring them from germany saving some jobs in the mainland. That would be the case if China wasn't building the biggest BYD factory outside of china here and other chinese brands like GWM weren't doing the same.
