Since I finally quit smoking weed I don't have any desire for real cheat meals. Crazy how huge of a difference it has made. I've just been doing the classic body builder diet to get lean again (enough protein for nitrogen balance, fat as low as possible) and it's surprisingly satisfying. The bulk of my calories are from oats, rice, potatoes, and fruit, with some peas, lentils and chickpeas to not waste any protein. I'm never hungry, and I never have any strong cravings. It's dirt cheap, meals are quick and easy, gets you lean effortlessly, very muscle sparing, pump is fantastic from always being saturated with glycogen, overall energy level is high from the carb intake. Surprisingly the lack of fat with the carbs seems to dramatically improve insulin response, to the point where eating carbs gives me an every rush now instead of leaving me sluggish. I've cut my caffeine use to about 1/4 of what it was a month ago as a result. Shit works. Turns out cutting carbs does not make your body better at merabolising carbs, cutting fat does, but you have to go very, very low, like 5-10% of calories maximum. The surprising thing is how little meat and dairy I actually need though now when I use an EAA calculator and run the numbers. I can still get about 0.5g-0.6g/lb of complete protein mostly from the sheer volume of high carb plant foods, then I only need about another 30-50g of protein from meat and dairy to hit about 125g protein. Dropped 9lbs in three weeks without counting calories or letting myself feel hungry while strength is still going up. Shit works. I've tried everything and this is by far the easiest and most effective macro spread I've ever tried.
