How were runaway sluts from Lviv and other rear regions used as a shield exactly? Evacuating from the frontline area is one thing, but it doesn't have to be abroad.
And it's been almost 4 years. Most of them got residency abroad. Studying, working, even getting married to foreigners and already having children with them. They are not coming back. The country has been gutted most of all exactly by this. Ukrainian demography recovered from WW1, bolshevik terror, gulags, famines, WW2. Much higher death toll than this war. Exactly because women remained and fertility rate was decent. But losing your reproductive base and children, when there's already been several decades of natural decrease (8 million between 91-22 to be precise) - it's a death sentence.
