There was a not-insignificant portion of younger boomer and gen-x parents who literally did not parent their children. They thought ignoring them and only punishing them when they made mistakes was the same as actually supporting them and offering guidance. Instead, it just taught their kids how to navigate the system as it exists without making waves, but also without developing passion or drive to accomplish anything. These people have spent the last decade or so of their lives putting the pieces together and actually transitioning into the mental maturity their parents never helped cultivate, and now they're realizing how fucked everything was and how fucked they are now.

All 3 of these demand a very rigid career track. Every Westerner is expected to follow the same institutional cursus honorum. You go to college, you get a job at a big corporation in a big city, you maybe go to graduate school, rinse and repeat until it’s time to start a business or run for office or whatever in your late 30s at the earliest (because everything is occupied by boomers so you have to wait longer). So think about what that means. That means nearly everybody is going to school and/or working dead end jobs until their mid-30s at the earliest. A small minority either fall of this track or jump off it and since there’s nothing else for them to do, they end up as mid-30s losers without even a dead end job or degree.

Hobbies and lifestyle changes work for anyone in North America, because of the way of life there. They can move to areas of like minded people, and be left alone. Then they take on hobbies, which morph them into normal reasonable people, even more normal and reasonable then most normalfags. If you separate yourself from that even if you're a complete autist it's actually easier to hold conversations, because your brain starts functioning as intended, and everyone else is operating as if they have brain damage. Even with autists they start getting shit like 'dedicated guitar player' as opposed to 'socially awkward autist.' Anywhere in Europe, if you don't fit into whatever the mold is of that European country you are going to have a hell of a time, hobbies will not save you. You have to change your entire personality to meet that of the nation, move, or bury yourself in a career so you don't have to deal with anyone. You're also significantly more effected by politics, because nations there are so small. If your nation is fucking up politically you can't escape that, and that fuck up is shaping the culture of your nation.
