Not what happened. There were very few Natives in North (they were nomadic) while Central and South America had entire civilizations with massive urban areas. And the "genocide" in the North was just families moving West and protecting themselves from attacking Natives. Only when it got too bad they'd form groups to go out and confront murdering tribes like the Comanches and such. In fact some were so bad other tribes welcomed the arrival of whites since whites were powerful and as such could potentially protect them from rapers and pillagers (they could also buy guns from them and so on).
