there is petty crime and also the big crimes of the extremely wealthy. often times they use crime in order to get rich.

being poor is the more spiritual pure path to take, thats for certain. being overly wealthy isn't some indication of purity and innocence.

I've been poor and sure I committed some crimes because of it but they were small and non violent. Shoplifting some groceries very rarely when I ran out of money, and only exactly what I needed, less than $50 of food. Not candy or beer either it was bread and eggs and shit. Not paying for car insurance because it was either that or my rent. Never did I once consider robbing someone, or mugging or breaking into a house or anything close to that.
Now im comfortably middle class and it's hilarious to see people claim it's being poor that makes them do home invasions, cat jackings and murder. They do it because they want the thrill, the street cred, and they lack empathy/critical thinking skills. has nothing to do with needs and I don't need a study to know this

When I was poor, I did not become a criminal.
There is no rational mechanism that you can describe where loss of wealth results in antisocial behavior where there was none before.
However, it is plainly obvious that crime causes poverty. Anyone can think of dozens of ways that criminal activity deprives people of comfort and wealth.

This was the best time for chinese street gangs as they were incredibly insular and nobody knew how to investigate them, because of the lack of Chinese in the police forces. The Chinese were poor and isolated and downtrodden.
