Has anyone else noticed that guys like John Candy don't really exist anymore?

Soulful, funny, fat but not disgusting looking, not an edgelord or a bitter incel, family oriented. This was a type of white man who made for a terrific best friend, brother, uncle etc.

He's definitely from a different era. I grew up in the 80s and there's honestly so much that's changed I can't keep track of it all. But the fundamental change in how people talk and behave is remarkable.
I loved him as a kid. I liked Camp Candy, Trains Planes and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, The Great Outdoors. I was pretty sad when he died. I remember Wagons East was under production at the time, and I never actually saw that one. I remember hearing it was in production hell for some reason.
His role as Dale Griffeth will probably outlive us all. That movie never gets old.

Don't watch Wagon's East. If you want Lewis/Candy kino, Eugene Levy directed an underrated remake of I think an Italian film from the 60s? I forget, it's been so long, but Candy is amazing in it.
