Where exactly would one assert that you could, right now, in this very moment, find 50% of THE COUNTRY that would vote for Gavin Newsom? Besides the fact that he only barely survived his own removal in California and polls like ass there, even if he was 100% popular there we literally know for a fact that the entire country massively shifted conservative in 2024, and since the election every single state that counts them has seen Republicans out-register Democrats by huge margins.

So unless between Nov. 5th and now, despite Trump actually being well above water with his approval ratings and increasing support, and with the massive movements of electoral votes in the favor of Republicans, along with the entire country moving more Republican both in voting pattern and registrations AND with the upcoming Gen Z being solidly way more conservative than their parents...

What exactly is the math here that makes anyone think Democrats, if they decided to run Newsom, even have a chance in hell?

Better than what? Better than the titanic, tectonic shifts in national policy and conversation that have already happened? Better than the mainstreaming, normalization, and enforcing of mass arrests and deportations, military cracking down on nigger crime, locking down the borders, and forcing the rest of the world to stop taking advantage of us via trade and military reliance?

Even if we weren't on an upwards trajectory, even just bringing these things into the mainstream conversation would have been huge, but the fact that we're actually DOING them is something no one would have believed would be possible 2 years ago.

I liked Massie when he was the guy who was proudly not taking money from Jews, pushing the issue of the debt, and forcing the House to show up and do their job. He was fine, the Freedom Caucus made sense, and he was one of the voices that I thought were a good guiding rail for the Republican party.

I don't know what happened to him since then. Maybe it was his wife dying, maybe he just got terminal TDS, but he decided that instead of any of those things he used to be, he's going to focus on just being the opposite of Trump on everything, which means accomplishing nothing, and now he's just a failed Congressman with no bills, no victories, and no one supporting him, and he can't even get on the team that America voted for.
