I think it's a mix of diet, alcohol, smoking (weed/cigs/vapes), and prescription meds.

Without tons of sugars and acids, our teeth are meant to last a lifetime, without brushing or flossing. But cleaning grit off your teeth is natural. Wanting to remove chunks of food with a floss is natural.

What isn't natural, IMO, is constant 24/7 maintenance, dental appointments, flossing when there's nothing there.

Good breath is important but not if you're just excessively covering up your bad health.

Flossing is hard.
If you do it properly it should take over 10 minutes. If it lasts one minute (as most people do) it's completely unnefective.
You have to go deep in your gums, reaching the teeth walls on both sides to get an adequate cleaning.

I'd say 50% of the time I brush, floss and mouthwash twice a day.
45% of the time I brush, floss and mouthwash once a day.
5% of the time I don't brush, floss or mouthwash at all.

This mainly has to do with my wacky work hours. Sometimes I'll work 12 hours, pass out for 12 hours when I get home. So technically I went a whole day without brushing.

That being said, I go to the dentist twice a year and be said my teeth ate great, I have thick enamel and my tiny cavities haven't grown in like 5 years. So whatever I'm doing is working...
