Trump is so insecure!!!
Elon Musk absent from White House special event.

US President Donald Trump hosted a special dinner at the White House attended by top tech CEOs including Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Apple's Tim Cook, Microsoft's Bill Gates, and OpenAI's Sam Altman.

However, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was not present at the event.

Apparently Musk was invited but Musk sent Jared Isaacman in his stead, which is kind of fucking hilarious.

Is musk sophisticated enough to play jokes like that? That's like some court-humor rich person stuff that I'm surprised Musk is deft enough to pull off.

Musk plays super dirty when he feels he/his companies become threatened. Usually just through massive lawsuit campaigns, but arguable his entire endorsement of Trump was because democrats kept fucking with spaceX. I can 100% see this being intentional.

I thought his feud with trump was just theater so he would stop having teslas burned in the streets. That would be some actual deft maneuvering. But again I don't know if he's really that sophisticated.

Nah something definitely went down. My guess is Musk heard about Isaacman being removed as head of NASA and chimped out. At the very least Isaacman was a casualty of the fued. Look at the timing of his chimpouts on X, its all around the same time as Isaacman getting canned and the types of stuff was responding about at the time. A lot of stuff DOGE got rid of almost immediately after inauguration was organizations that were hitting spaceX with ridiculous regulations (FAA). Bannon yelled about nationalizing spaceX right after the falling out and Elon immediately called him a pedo. SpaceX is his baby and he will go to literally any length to protect it.

But isn't SpaceX mostly about putting up those low-flying satellites? That's clearly some kind of control-grid going up over the earth. It's a bit suspicious to me Musk is so frantic about that program in particular, which is tied into the defense industry and platforming drone warfare.

Anyway I guess he really wants to go to Mars. But we've had shitloads of debates on /sci/ about Mars vs Venus, and Venus wins every time. Mars is a fool's errand.

He is genuinely obsessed with going to Mars. It is actually just that simple. Tesla makes electric cars, batteries, solar panels, autonomous bots.... all things that would be pretty fucking useful getting a Mars base started. Boring company, same thing, early Mars settlements will need underground settlements most likely.

Ok let me explain why Venus kicks Mars's ASS

Mars has issues that humans have no means to solve.
- gravity
- magnetic field
-atmosphere
Maybe if we were a type 1 civilization we could add mass to Mars, but not today. Those issues are crippling and intractable.

But Venus? It has the correct gravity. It has *too much* atmosphere.
The only problem with Venus is the composition of the atmosphere. Which, helpfully, happens to be mostly carbon. So all you need to do is program some microorganism, send it to Venus, it will mutiply and change the whole atmosphere for us. Hopefully converting the atmospheric CO2 into something precipitated and solid.

The reason why this will work? Because it's literally just a programming problem. Our civilization is >extremely fucking good< at programming. If we program the right genetics into these cellular organisms, we're home free. Suddenly we have an earth-size planet, with earth-level gravity, all for the taking.

Venus is the future, Mars is a meme.

Venus might make sense as a long term alternative to Earth as a proper, live on the ground no suits no masks terraform project, but Mars is immediately habitable. Lower gravity has long term effects on people, especially next generation humans, but anyone that goes to Mars from Earth will be fine, gravitationaly. Magnetic field not existing really just means any settlements would need to be shielded somehow. Either underground, or above ground with some protected dome like structure. Atmosphere is the same, just needs to be a sealed protected structure and you can have whatever atmosphere pressure you want. Venus might be a fine long term alternative but Mars is an easily habitable short term alternative. Anyway part of Musk's whole schtick is settling on ANY other world, and having that settlement self sufficient, but also using the entire experience of settling another world as a learning experience for settling even more worlds/systems. Mars does not preclude Venus. Mars could in fact help lead to Venus.
