Efficiency was key.
If memory serves, to save on bullets the Germans would tie two prisoners together, shoot one in the head, then push them into a body of water.
Either way, those in camps would have a better time of things than those in trenches.

No, it was a work camp, there were no "mass death ovens" or anything of the like. Just a cremation area for the few people who died while in the camps. There were no "death mass gassing showers". There were delousing showers but nobody died in them. They had pools, hospitals, jewish women were having tons of babies in the camps, got to visit doctors and dentists.
All the horror stories you hear are literally "spooky camp stories" from the people known to lie, and STILL lie to this day, about lampshades, soap, pens that didn't exist when stories were written, bears and eagles, shotgun baby throwing competitions, and more...
The allies cut off supply lines and bombed the camps, which is where most of the people suffered (germans AND jews) and died. Not from some "genocide plan" (which never has bene found evidence of).
All just people inventing spooky camp stories to make their people perpetual victims.
Its all so tiresome.
