How can people support a leader that lives in a fucking castle? Kinda mind boggling.

No? I just find it fascinating that peasants could even remotely support this kind of disparity in living conditions.

I don't know if he was a good king or not, maybe someone can give me a rundown

Same as the US where everyone is a temporarily embarrassed millionaire, adjusted for inflation billionaire, all the peasants are temporarily embarrassed royalty.

Why do you think there's so much media about peasants becoming royalty?

Think back through all the Disney shit you watched as a kid.

The palace was built in 1880 ... the king was lousy and acted like a French sun king and squandered the money.
No wonder members of the Bavarian parliament murdered him. (He drowned in knee-high water ...)

In the long term, the palace has paid off - it is the most famous palace in the world (model for the Disney logo) and the masses of tourists, especially Chinese and Japanese, are extreme. They leave a lot of money here. (live here)

Bro if the King is truly peak then who are we to say he doesn't deserve the castle? If the country is safe and prosperous and the people happy and where they want to be, then what is the issue? I don't understand the dilemma? It seems to me like Corruption and Evil left alone by Yeomen of God is the problem. These goodly men who utter the words but turn a blind eye on others must they themselves be made to see once again; the cost of your inaction

This example aside, castles were used to shelter peasants during an invasion. (Kind of pointless to reign over a field of dead peons, had protect them).
There was also the massive number of people.employeed by the royal family- not just butters and maids but butchers and stable masters and gardeners. It was like being proud of working in the empire state building.
My surname literally translates to "of the king"- my ancestors worked in the castle for the king 900 years ago. Might have been a blacksmith that crafted the kings sword or the stable boy who shoveled horse shit in the kings stables...

Is an American trying to explain to a European what the Middle Ages were?
How many medieval castles does the USA have? We have 22,000 documented castles in Germany and I live right next to the most famous one in the world. If I go 500 meters further, I'm standing in a Roman fortress that was built to conquer Germania. There are five more castles/castle ruins within a radius of 10km. We celebrate medieval festivals on a large scale every year.

I appreciate the intention. But you don't need to tutor me.

It's not like they had much choice. Even if they did somehow manage to overthrow him, the political, technological, and economic conditions that created the castlefag in the first place would ensure that another would take his place.

Neuschwanstein was an enormous letdown, hours of waiting, only to be led through in 20 minutes and audio commentary through earbuds, throwing tourists like a Lidl cashier would groceries.
If you want a German castle experience, I suggest Herrenchiemsee, beautiful garden and great, live tourguides, you come over to the island on a scheduled boat and take a return one whenever you fancy.
