I agree, which is a shame because Israel is a great country. I think part of the problem is that people in the rest of the West don't have familiar symbols with which to associate with Israel. When you think of England you think of Big Ben, double-decker busses, bobbies and queen's guardsmen, tea, cobblestone streets, etc. When you think of France you think of the Eiffel Tower, bread, etc. Same with the rest of Europe and the world. When you think of Israel such symbols don't come to mind unless you are familiar with the religious history, like the wailing wall, the dome of the rock, etc. Israel can and should show off more of its unique style and cultural identity so it feels familiar
