The official explanation for Jewish power and the counter-argument to the idea of a Jewish conspiracy. How does /pol/ look at it?

1. Right on the face of it, doesn't it sound like bullshit that Christians simply handed over control of money to Jews because of what was, in practice, a relatively minor sin?
2. Weren't most Jews religious themselves?
3. Lending money isn't even a sin. Usury may be but, contrary to what the argument implies, it's not like all lending was usury
4. And if you say nearly all lending was evil, exploitative usury and it was almost exclusively done by Jews century after century, isn't it then only reasonable to assume this, if nothing else, took some toll on Jews and their behavior and that it lends (no pun intended) some truth to the stereotypes?
5. Assuming Christians did put Jews in that position, how do you know those Christian lawmakers weren't already under Jewish influence or even Jews themselves? Doesn't this just sound like another plot? It's literally a Jewish religion anyway
6. And even if we accept this whole explanation, at best it shows that Jews weren't always conspiring; it doesn’t prove they aren't doing so today

I don't see how it counters the existence of a jewish conspiracy at all. It's just the foundation for it. Those families which benefitted from the financial monopoly our kings gave them have formed the most successful criminal organization in history.
But on the subject of a conspiracy, it's more like a cult into which every jew is born and to which he lends his efforts, on the basis of race solidarity, without ever even necessarily realizing he's part of it.

Judaism specifically allows lending to non-Jews, specifically with the idea that lending to people lets you rule over them, that rule being the promise of the entire religion, the covenant made between Abraham and Yahweh. While the book does state you can't do "usury" meaning "excessive interest," there is no hard standard for what constitutes "excessive." So effectively there is no rule against usury on goys, any mildly intelligent Jew can just say

Highly religious Christians of the early eras absolutely would've cared about religious rules against interest, but pretty much all civilizations end up needing loans as an economic mechanism, so when they found the release valve of letting Jews (who were already grandfathered in as cousins of Christians) do the dirty work, they immediately took it. The real problem with your post though is the implicit rationale that if Jews were pressed into finance by Christians and then used that financial power to gain political power, that must mean there is no conspiring and that such takeover was completely fair, meritocratic and above the board. And that logic makes ZERO sense. Bankers should not be rulers and just being predominant in a particular industry doesn't give you carte blanche to act maliciously toward others. Moreover, there's no rationale for holding political power without any accountability, which is how the banks rule. It just so happened that after industrialism war became more about money than martial prowess and double-entry lending was discovered, allowing the banks to leapfrog into backroom power via currency creation.

All this shit is still bad even though Jews were pressured into one path to power rather than any others. It doesn't excuse anything.

In the Middle Ages and early renaissance European and christian money lenders predominated.
For example the Medici in Italy and the Fuggers in Germany.
Also there were lots of loopholes in church law as well as civil law to get around the prohibition on usury for christians. Eventually one of the Medicis became pope and started the process of allowing usury to be practised.
Alongside European christian lenders the jews also operated. Their numbers were small however. The Normans did utilise jewish moneylenders though.
As for the jews they always practised moneylending anyway from earliest times and the later Talmud expresses a very worldly and materialist philosophy.
On occassions when christian princes tried to get the jews involved in regular work such as trades or working the land the jews were always unenthusiastic about it.
We know from the bible that the jews in ancient times lived by being shepherds, growing orchards and vinyards and lending money.
So jews have always lent money from ancient times and history showed that they prefered to do this. The prohibition of usury by the church was easily got around by various loopholes some of which were given church sanction. The wealth of the Medici and Fuggers in the 15th and 16th century showed this.
In his day Jacob Fugger was the richest man in Europe and his wealth came from lending money. Fugger was German and catholic

Jews didn't fit into the rigid "divide order" of the feudal system, which had very explicit social contracts between the farmers, clergy, and landowning nobility. It wasn't just that the perception that banking and mercantile pursuits were sinful, and Christians did engage in that activity (see: Venice, Templar Order, the Swiss.) But jews were encouraged to enter these professions because they did not fit the strict social order otherwise.
