Nintendo makes children's games, but it markets those games to "all ages". Those games are not in the children's aisle, they're in the MAIN aisle, being sold to everyone. As a result you have 30 year old manchildren obsessed with cutesy, colorful, nonverbal Nintendo characters. They continually wallow in nostalgia, retrenching their childhood over, and over, until they troon out.

The desire to play Hollow Knight is really just the same thing. It's the Nintendo manchildre excited there's another game with familiar cutesy little characters they can goon over and speedrun. Nintendo is the root of the problem, Hollow Knight is just the symptom
