Why does China, a country ruled by the Communist Party as a one-party state, have a stock market?

In other words, why does China have such a large gap between rich and poor even though it is a country governed by the Communist Party?

Who gives a shit. Is it possible to survive, then later prosper there? I have been learning Mandarin for while. A lot of shit in it sounds very much like how southern folk in the US speak.
