Throughout my life, most of my male friendships ended up more like status contests than real support. Remove the veil and it's all just subtle competition, backchanneling and cold betrayal. And that's excluding when a woman enters the room. I see no political solutions to this other than total authoritarian control and marxist brainwashing. Since that's unethical, the only way out is to flee innawoods and die of wild berry poisoning.

I avoided people for most of my life due to negative impressions of people in primary school, a few good years but by college I felt like it was the same patterns repeating.
The only friends I've had, I liked so much that I genuinely wonder if I wanna abandon looking for a girl, and find out how they react if I troon out for them and want a relationship as their girl.

I only had a handful of close friends in my entire life.
Eventually people move on though. They're too busy with their careers, families, etc., no time for an old buccaneer like me.

A few people are actual idealistic pushovers that will try to fulfill the stereotypical role of "Friend" and act selflessly, even if they're doing it for validation at the end of the day. But most people aren't like that, you can't go around as an adult trusting people to that degree and expecting them to be selfless therapists that will have your back no matter what.
