Unironically could. Don't mean to scare reddit but it wouldn't be the worst possible idea if it were updated to modern realities. The main reason it would work or be justified would be ecofascism. This means countries use national socialism to coordinate accords on resource management and trade. Mostly. Also the rest of arguments people have about bs are rather easy to trounce anyway. You would never think it, but the answer is mostly that would quite possibly be ideal.

But it would only really help and work if it spread to lots of countries instead of just 3 this time. And didn't have much else as far as agendas could be concerned. Also with autonomous warfare on the horizon, it could end up being an imperative.
