I went to a casino for the first time in years recently because a friend wanted to go-- I was very off-put by the amount of 5'x8' fuck-you-in-the-eyeballs curved LED screens with little Chinese animated cartoons and 50,000 floaty details all over the place making all kinds of clashing noises and music. I wouldn't have cared so much if it was just a corner of the casino for ADHD autists, but it was pretty much the entire casino floor. Even the roulette was mostly screens with just two actual spin tables. Whole place gave me a fucking headache and seemed like a complete waste of time and money. If I knew how to play craps I would probably do that, but casinos are very nigger tier

I think this is part of it. Entertainment options are everywhere now (including phones/TVs). But what shows are in Vegas I couldn’t catch for the same or a lower price elsewhere? The idea of a Vegas resort is hilarious not like you can ski or beach or any other “resort” activity. It’s just a hotel with pools like every other nice hotel. And there’s no luster anymore. Just wandering around with everyone in flip flops it’s kinda dull. In fairness I don’t really gamble but Google tells me I could drive less than an hour to a casino if I wanted to, probably with better tables than Vegas.

I think the only thing keeping that place afloat now is cheap place for conferences and conventions, which might be its only legitimate competitive advantage at this point.
