The Department of War used to only handle the Army and was separate from the Department of Navy. The miscoordination and internal quarrels between them were part of why Pearl Harbour happened.
Since the Army Air Corps was being spun off into the Air Force, Truman decided to unify the political management of all the services.
Now Whiskey Pete's delusions are going to cost a cool billion changing every plaque, stationary, manual, outhouse, henhouse from here to the Pecos.
A cool billion that will not feed and arm the "warriors" that Hegseth claims to want to defend.
