When the markets shit the bed back in 2008, they basically halted to collapse and the natural recovery period by going crazy with the money printers and that pace has only intensified ever since.
Now they're running it into the ground and there's no saving this mess.
We're witnessing the retail getting suckered in as the big boys have been slowly exiting quietly.
They should have stopped this over a decade ago if they wanted to have even a faintest chance of saving the system.

But yes, the US economy was most likely supposed to collapse and end for good back in 2008, and everything we see now, from money printing and inflation, to open border immigration, to women in the work place, DEI slop, etc is just this country's last desperate hail mary attempt to keep this country afloat and line going up by any means necessary for as long as possible via artificial inflation. It's true we haven't had an actual real economy since 2008, and now only survive off of inflation. It's actually terrifying.

It really is a horrifying mess. It's so bad that there's not going to be a functioning US left after this blows up. There's practically no real economy and hasn't been for years.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see US split into different independent regions, as the states realize some states are going to drag everyone down hard for decades and they can't afford that.
And of course everyone else globally gets fucked too.
I bet we're going to see official unemployment numbers hit at least 30% everywhere in the West, which means that the real number is closer to double and this will be the end of the welfare systems.
It's a perfect mess that will likely lead to mass civil unrest everywhere.

A recession would also lowers prices and the costs of goods and services. That's what recessions are for: flushing all the trash and overpriced slop out of the markets. Yes, they are painful (for some), but necessary, and we haven't had one since 2008, nearly 20 years at this point- which is why everything sucks so much right now.

That's not true. Those jobs are in place for the purposes of wealth distribution and to improve the general robustness of the economy. The salaries that are paid out for the hundreds of thousands of do nothing makework positions would otherwise get sucked up by the billionaires as profits. Instead, those salaries are spent by the employees and recirculated into the economy, purchasing goods and services, creating jobs, and generating wealth and opportunity for other people, which improves the overall situation.
