If the files are benign as they claim, they would have no trouble releasing them.
"It totally doesn't matter, bro" has always been a trusty manipulation tactic for the kinds of psychopaths that fit well into the trough of public opinion-makers. Ever noticed how "no one cares except [insert vague description of someone with negative attributes]" only applies to topics they don't want discussed? It's like they don't feel confident in their argumentation on the subject, so they resort to trying to kill the conversation in its entirety. Maybe throw in a little side-eye, or a forced chuckle, anything to try and utilize the natural human fear of being seen as "weird" as a cynical weapon in order to control others.
At this point, it's probably just survival. People whose opinions go far and wide all know that by the time they hit "post", their little snippet of characters has gone through so many layers of edits, so many "will this reach the right people?" lines of questioning, so many linguistic tricks made to boost engagement among humans and machines alike that the final product is far from anything approaching authenticity, although it has been aggressively edited to appear as authentic as possible. Casual, even.
But make no mistake, the big Epstein-sized gash in the modern zeitgeist won't go away anytime soon, because unlike cheap rhetoric, the eyes of the masses, the ones so many online mind-warpers claim are lying, have seen for themselves the problem. This isn't a meme war where influencers influence and counter-influence the public, this is millions of people individually asking themselves what lies behind the curtain.
It didn't work for Nixon. It won't work for Epstein.
