It was bound to happen. The only thing that is surprising is that it took them such a long time to turn the internet into just another TV soap opera.

Remember when googling something brought up actual content? Youd get small forums and blog with interesting stories. Now its all reddit and sites trying to sell you something.

It didnt took them that long. It only took them 20 years. Also the internet technology had to get cheaper, faster, more advanced and more accessible first in order to turn it like tv.

I remember when you could insert search terms which would actually make your search highly specific.
Now it makes little or no difference

I remember. Even till the late 2000s every time I wanted to find sites related with anime, games etc it would show me lots of different sites. Now it only shows me the same big sites regardless the topic I look for. "Alternative" search engines aren't any better either.

BY THE WAY! Search engines in the past wouldn't block "problematic" content like they do now, nor they would show me obviously biased top results that are the total opposite of what I've asked for.

Also finding lots of niche, nice communities was easy. Now it only shows you Wikis, subreddits and whatever centralized internet's big sites.

I run a small website that's purely informational.
No cookies, no tracking, no analysis, no nothing.
Because guess what: You don't need any of that shit to display info.

My buddy told me that it appears shady and unprofessional when you DON'T have to click a fucking cookie banner.
Yes, people are already that brainwashed.

And while spambots existed back then too they were a rarity, they were too obvious and only at some places. Now the whole internet is full with them, run by them and YET they have the nerve to treat human users as potential bots although we all know that the "prove that you're not a bot" crap is just a bullshit excuse for tracking you down.

Adblock didn't even exist yet. So good luck with all those popups that crash the system and viruses from flash and pdf plugins.

Still faster than waiting for fucking dialup.

Most newspapers weren't even online yet in the 90s. Now they host everything online including historical archives.

Not going over the rest of the bullshit because it's already so stupid.

you can solve this by just not using a bloated OS. the shitty internet is pretty unavoidable though, at least not entirely.

>>90s and 2000s internet: Literally was just filled with nerdy boomers, gen xers, and millennials before they became sjw s*yboys
As a millennial myself who grew up with 90s and 2000s internet and pop culture I will still never understand how in the world so many millennials that used to be normal people at the '90s and 2000s they suddenly started transforming into Sjw s*yboys at early 2010s.

People that used to call others as niggers and faggots suddenly started lecturing you about "racism" and "homophobia". People that used to love sexy women at video games suddenly started lecturing you about "sexism at video games" and "the need to grow up as persons". Turning from a chill dude into a fascist oversensitive faggot isn't "growing up"!

And every other millennials that didn't exactly turned into SJWs they started siding with them because they were afraid to be treated as outcasts while in the past they would all laugh to these SJWs.

Meanwhile at the social circles I was at (both irl and online ones) I was treated as the "weird, schizo" one for being against all this sjw crap and just not wanting them to ruin my hobbies. As a result I was banned from various online communities and get ostracized by real life social circles. Fortunately at the same time I would get new friends (mostly online ones) that have also fed up with SJW crap.

To be more correct and fair, EU (and if I remrmber correctly, also US by other laws) forced sites to give you the possibility to personalize the cookie tracking (but a lot of people continue to insert them in a way that basically is impossible to reject). Anyway its not a clean thing, you have to do bazillion of clicks to reject (I do 90% of the time) unless you download a plug in to auto reject cookies so basically you don't see that bar anymore. Anyway, adding the bar was in theory to protect the user from wild undeclared commercial (and more) tracking.
