This is kinda fake news. We’ve bottled up hundreds of Russian asylum applications over the years and waited for EU wide guidance on how to handle them. According to the UN guidelines Russians should in fact be granted asylum on grounds of not willing to participate in military service when there is a well founded fear of having to partake in war crimes. Same reasoning is why Syrian men get asylum.
Well because with Russians the Finnish boomers never want to follow any of their own rules, our immigration agency was forbidden from handling the applications, and they were frozen for years. Now they’ve begun to make negative decisions based on the fact that the draft in Russia is ”technically” already over, so fear of being drafted to commit warcrimes is unfounded.
This is 100% normal process, and no ”mass deportation” is taking place. Just immigration office making decisions to piled up Russian applications after a long pause.
