It will be interesting to see how things pan out for the Amish once the USA descends into Mexico 2.0.
Up until now the Amish have enjoyed protected status. Protected by US laws, US police, and the US army. Pretty much for free. They enjoy the security and infrastructure of a Western state. No invading armies. No roving gangs or cartels. No endemic corruption comparable to places like South America, Asia, or India. They enjoy modern roads, and to some extent the indirect benefits of modern technology, that is surrounded by generally law abiding, healthy, and wealthy people with who they can safely trade.
But imagine what might happen when America becomes dominated by a Hispanic majority, supplemented by Indians and other 3rd world immigrants, who begin to vote into power their own kind. Who rort the system, infiltrate the institutions, become the police force, become the law makers spreading their culture of corruption, deceit, and cheating into every last corner of the nation. Now the rots sets in. Now corruption, nepotism and incompetence becomes as widespread and as obvious as the countries these people came from.
What will protect the Amish then?
Who will defend them once envious eyes are cast upon their productive farms? A few strokes of a pen, a few changes to the laws, and their land can be "legally" seized by some fat brown bureaucrat who sends in his own personal army of hired thugs to take it.
Who will defend the integrity of the environment when the immigrants officials are paid off by big business to allow toxins and industrial wastes to be dumped in waterways flowing through Amish land?
