/POL/ LIED ABOUT SMOKING
Ever since I started smoking I've been using this board nonstop. Never realized how much it can reinforce bad habits. Now I have basically zero motivation to do actual work. You niggers told me this would help me be more productive. What the fuck. Am I supposed to not smoke until after I get work done to change the dopamine incentive or am I supposed to smoke only while working? I feel like I'm doing this shit wrong. I've gone through two entire vape pods in one week.

vaping isn’t smoking. you can pick up a vape and hit it anytime you want, smoking a cigarette is an intentional act often tied to specific timing throughout the day. why the fuck would you willfully allow yourself to become addicted to any substance anyways? are you simply that weak willed that you want something to make your life “better” without actually having any vision for what that looks like or plan to reach it?
Anonymous (ID: 4TmEz4qY) United States No.514959707
You've been smoking for what? 2 weeks? that is barely time to get addicted. Feel sick for 2 days and be done with it.

That's how everything else in life works. You don't go to the gym with a vision of looking like Mike Mentzer, you just go everyday and do the workouts. What the fuck are you even trying to say here.

nicotine is arteriosclerotic and therefore harms testosterone production and contributes to neurodegeneration in the long term. smoking deposits carcinogenic tar in your lungs, vapes are full of chinese machine oil, pouches are assembled by poo hands and full of fiberglass and microplastics, gum is probably the least unhealthy. maybe it's not so bad if you grow the tobacco yourself and only smoke every once in a while, but if you're doing it every day you're absolutely harming your health substantially.

there are several known mechanisms for cigarette smoke causing arteriosclerosis, this isn't really debatable (as long as you're not rejecting the basic premises of science and saying all studies are fake, in which case it's not worth continuing this discussion). the finer point of whether or not nicotine causes arteriosclerosis itself, absent the other chemicals in smoke, is more of an open question, but what's beyond debate is that nicotine is vasoconstrictive (it raises blood pressure) and suppresses HDL. here is a reference to HDL being suppressed by nicotine patches (not cigarettes): https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0091743500906947

there is a little less evidence that nicotine alone impairs endothelial function (flexibility of the blood vessels) but it probably does. these elements (high blood pressure, poor LDL clearance, impaired endothelial function) are all the main drivers of plaque formations/arteriosclerosis.

> Saying that vape juice is "chinese machine oil"

the vape juice is whatever you mix up yourself with extracted nicotine, I was more talking about the coils and cartridges most likely having machine oil on them.

I suppose nicotine is a stimulant, so it's probably not ideal for your cardiovascular system, but I'm pretty sure in that regard it's no worse than caffeine. I'm willing to sacrifice a little bit of physical health for a mental benefit if possible, generally speaking.

>>514963145
Vaping is cheaper and healthier than cigars or cigarettes. If that's your thing though I won't piss in your cereal.

Caffeine probably doesn't have the same HDL suppression effect as nicotine, and coffee is an antioxidant wheras smoking and vaping (maybe nicotine consumption in general) is a huge source of free radicals. sugary energy drinks are certainly bad for your blood glucose. If you're interested in health, you should really try to get a better understanding of how cholesterol works.

> a little bit of physical health for a mental benefit if possible, generally speaking.

when you get old you realize they're the same. your physical body impacts your mental health the most. for non mentally ill people, if you're depressed, anxious, can't focus, or whatever, it's almost certainly because you have a vitamin and/or hormone deficiency related to lifestyle choices, high blood pressure, fluctuating blood sugar, aren't sleeping well, aren't hydrated, etc.

nicotine does temporarily reduce anxiety (like alcohol) but there is a greater rebound effect. make your own choices but take it from this oldfag. a life of smoking will fuck your body up and make things harder than they need to be.
