Iran's allies are resistance groups (except for Yemen) whereas the US controls the actual governments, directly or through their regional pawns. The groups are always restricted by their own US controlled governments and their own national situations.
The real problem was Iran's national security doctrine, which has changed after the 12 day war. They had a rule of never intervening directly to prevent a US attack, but now that the attack happened anyways, they'll intervene the next time one of their allies is getting dog piled

Wrong. If that were the case they wouldn't pick a fight with the biggest and most aggressive military on the planet. They would simply cuck out to the west like the rest of the countries in the region, especially after the US assassinated Qasem Sulaiman and others.
Reason why they don't intervene directly is because it's not popular in Iran and because they don't want to involve the US. Hezbollah got wrecked due to Arab countries/NATO/US intervention, 1600 airstrikes in a single day, not to mention their support in intelligence. Israel only managed 400 strikes a day when the regime in Syria fell so the 1200 other strikes came from somewhere else.
