If my condition was worse like some people's can be (or like mine would be if I let it go unchecked for longer) then I would need to use the restroom probably every hour. Obviously accomodations can be made but that cuts out a huge chunk of possible employment opportunities. Disability is real. Luckily my condition was found early and I shouldn't suffer much of the unemployability of these unfortunate souls, but even then I'm still afflicted by way more fatigue than the average person (because of anemia created by my condition) and so would be begging for a workplace injury if I worked a chronically fatiguing job.

Count yourself lucky, praise God everyday, that you're not afflicted like most are by arbitrary curses from the creator.

The problem is that healthcare is so short staffed and insurance companies want to reduce testing as much as possible to reduce costs. So people wait years to get tests for chronic conditions and never have a diagnosis and all that time they look like they're faking it. For instance it took 10 years for a family member to be diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. And people thought he was just being lazy.

I'm in my 40s and only recently found out my stomach issues were that my underwear waistband was somehow too tight around my stomach. no, if you get a 100% you don't need to get IU (individual unemployability). IU is a way for someone at 70% to 90% to get the 100% rate but you can pretty much file contentions as "secondary" to primary SC disability to work around that.

I see a therapist weekly. I went misdiagnosed as just being depressed for decades despite never being shy with a professional about my trauma. I got molested dozens of times before age 10 by a cousin that my grandmother to this day protects and praises even after he was convicted of harming other kids. Fibro is only "fake" in the sense that people have a neurological disorder that doctor's are too lazy or lacking intelligence to properly diagnose.
But the neuropathy that comes with it is very real you faggot. I should know because I have it. Last year I get to work and feel something wet trickling down my leg. Thinking I spilt something I go to the bathroom and discover my legs are soaked in blood. I immediately leave and go to the doctor.

I've got some kind of GI bleed. They're going to need to do some exploratory surgery to see what the cause is. Maybe ulcers, maybe diverticulitis, but humiliatingly, I'm just leaking blood out my ass 24/7. I call out of work and start getting the surgeries.

Turns out it's severe diverticulitis and I need to have the perforations sewn up in a series of surgeries. In the meantime my work's insurance calls me and tells me that this doesn't qualify as short-term disability because I can still work while getting treatment.

I explain that I'm literally leaking blood constantly, and I don't have some remote desk job. What am I to do? They tell me to buy adult diapers and bring a change to work when they get too saturated.

Note that this was only like a month off of work I was asking for, and it wasn't some phantom pain or depression, but actual holes in my intestines requiring in-patient surgeries for.

The thing is, as furious as I was with our insurance (Lincoln Financial, fuck them), I also know that the reason it's such a pain are all the fake disability faggots who get an eye-twitch and go out on disability for six years and make it harder for everyone else.

When I was really trying to push myself with doing ultra-marathon training last year I had near constant hallucinations, my progress in building muscle was so slow because my recovery is shit. I also have anxiety and panic attacks that aren't mental in nature, they stop instantly the moment I can breath, and start when I can't breath. It is really hard for me to breath when I lay down, which makes it hard to sleep. I've had to be taken away from the pool in an ambulance a couple of times because things got so bad, luckily now all lifeguards are familiar with me though and are chill about it, but it's embarrassing and I wish I could control it. My brother also died from aspiration and I've been victimized by criminals (robbery and assault) quite a few times but I mostly manage that by not thinking about it or talking about it, fuck therapy, it doesn't fix a damned thing and I don't see why I have to think about or be defined by things in the past they happened and I don't to remember any of it. I have a Chiari Malformation, and I think that’s causing increased pressure in my head (as well as possibly hydrocephalus). I dont really sleep and I am insanely tired/dizzy all day, every day. I got it from repeated molestation. Since actually getting proper treatment I recognize i had it since I was a young kid. It's a bit different for those that get it as adults, main difference being a very sharp memory vs memory loss for adults. Basically you consistently dwell on the trauma, relive it, have flashbacks or nightmares about it, and it is persistent in eating at your thoughts if you don't stay occupied. Over time this has developed into issues with emotional regulation and anger, for me typically from those who are inattentive or negligent. I have a very short fuse for things I think are wrong. I think the high instances of PTSD in the civilian community are a product of how sheltered we've become. My grandfather told me a story about being the first on scene with his mate to a horrific car crash when he was 20. Multiple kids mangled up in it and he was pulling the live kids out of the car.
