Mine weren't - 1st gen college students both who had farmer parents, and I am an ICU nurse in the USA so I'd call myself working class.
There does seem to be a homogenization and nadir of culture going on in some respects, and I think it's closely tied to the economic downturn that's been going on since 2008 at least, combined with the ongoing muttification of both North America and Europe. Can't speak for Eastern Europe though. I have modest hope for them. I imagine the USA, Canada, and most of Western Europe is going to go through some of the tumult that that Russia did during the decline of the tsars and early years of the Revolution. Hopefully not even a fraction as bad, but I worry about some of the parallels. Or maybe it'll still be like the late Roman Empire mired in legalism that takes centuries to fully bear out. I'm a pessimist but I'd love to be wrong.
