Some further context is that I'm a cs major who is seeing a whole bunch of internship applications pop up, but is disheartened about his inability to apply to any of them since he's a senior now.

Right now I commute to class, which is pretty ass for my social life and mental health. My parents really fucking piss me off all the time, and while I'm obviously not looking forward to having to spend my glory years with them, unfortunately the future looks ever more bleak.

The other day they laughed in my face when I floated the possibility of transitioning to nursing, saying I'd make an ass nurse.

Everything just seems fucking depressing.

It's called getting older and yes life gets harder and harder until you die. Life only seems easy when you are younger because you are living as a dependent under your parents wing. After that it may still seem easy because your youth will see you through. But once you reach middle age if you don't have a career it's really hard. Then you do the same shit for 20 years and after that retire. But by the time you are retired you spend all your time fighting your body trying to prevent death.
