Because they want maximum casualties on both sides. Both sides are forced to do cuck warfare. Putin didn't use full force during the invasion and terrible logistics. Everything was done so poorly that Ukriane had plenty of time to set up a counter attack and ambush the Russian grouns troops near Kiev. Russia purposely doesn't bomb everything like America would to "save optics" despite them already being seen as literal hitler.
Ukraine is purposely underequipped and not allowed to hit important targets so the war machine keeps chugging and Russia only uses a certain amount of their armed forces for whatever fucking reason. All this seems to explain why this war is such a shitshow for both sides.
Despite all this imo Russia is winning but imo it might be a phyrric victory if the minerals of Ukraine do not make up for the losses.
