The best way to cope with problems is just to live life in a normal way and keep all negative people out of your life. You can't control other people but it's entirely your own choice to not spend time with someone who makes you miserable.

In my personal experience bad events and traumas like divorce fade away in 3-5 years on their own, just don't collect more of them.
