This always seemed ridiculous two sided to me: Whenever NATO holds a big wargames in Baltics, Russia get paranoid. Whenever something like ZAPAD is coming to light, Eurofags got paranoid.

Bruh, at the end of the day, no one wants to fight honestly, it's just pre-WWIII hysteria and a nice opportunity for defensive complexes of both sides to pump up bucks into pockets. But no one says that there won't be numerous attempts at unconventional warfare, like for example a misguided drone dropping super close to houses or railway road blowing up all of a sudden.

The EU wants war against Russia, but only if it can hide behind the US. The US has no interest in such a war, at least not as long as Trump is the president. Denying Russia access to Ukraine is not worth the cost of an open war against Russia.

In case of a war, a competent field marshal would abandon the Baltic States and draw the main line of defense in Poland. But the NATO generals take orders from midwit politicians and the politicians take orders from billionaire oligarchs, so who knows what's going to happen? Chances are half the NATO forces are deployed in the Baltics, then cut off when the Russians take the Suwalki corridor and so have to leave all their expensive heavy equipment behind during the panicked evacuation. Or something like that. If that happens, chances are Poland surrenders quickly.

Anyway, I don't really think those numbers would be necessary if it was just Poland (or, even less so, the Baltics), though it still feels unlikely that Russia would just have all that after definitely bleeding through supplies to some extent by now.

NATO has tricked and backstabbed Russia on multiple occasions.
A lot of promises were made that eastward expansion wouldn't go on, yet it always did.
As far as I understand, Putin is stretching the Ukraine war out on purpose.
He is unironically the one that wants security guarantees. Invading the core of Russia through Ukraine would be super easy for NATO, this is why Russia desperately had to stop Ukraine joining it.

What is now going on in Ukraine is desperate defensive Russian imperialism.
They will not randomly invade a NATO country and activate article 5 like a bunch of retards, that would be too much.
