The two realistic options we have are either rehabilitation or death sentence. Why don’t we choose death sentence? That’s how Europe became a high trust society. Sure we can rehabilitate some of them but overall rehabilitation doesn’t work. The best examples of rehabilitation working are in already high trust societies. “Death penalty is too expensive” then make it cheaper.

Rehabilitation is a joke and recidivism rates across the entire world support that. All violent and/or drug related crimes should carry the death penalty.

Many are surprised about this but brazil uses rehabilitation as its model, everyone is treated as decent human beings who just made a mistake no matter how horrible the crime, or how unrepentant they are. Horrid criminals walk out of police stations with a slap in the wrist and a promise to not do it again, even the most heinous mass murderers who should not be in society with several dozen confirmed kills stay at worst twenty to thirty years in jail, there's no death penalty, no real punishment. Crime is worth it.
